If I ruled the world tobacco would be highly illegal. But I’m not, so good people like those at HPA have to come up with cunning new ways to help people quit. This beta mode chatbot, hosted on Facebook Messenger, was a lot of fun for me as a writer because we had a very small, well-defined test market: tradies. Which meant I could really dial up the tone of voice. There was a certain satisfaction in the results too. 83% of participants gave us a net promoter score of 8 or more, 47% quit completely, and the other 53% significantly cut back their use of tobacco. Possibly the most fun job I have done in ages. I can’t give you access to the live model but you can read the transcript.
